Preschool Craft Corner: Stamped Dinosaurs

Stamped Dinosaurs

Create, decorate, and then play with some dinosaur friends!

Send a picture of your artwork to us at summerreading@tnrd.ca for a chance to be featured in next week’s newsletter and blog post.

Materials Required

  • paint (any type, any colour)
  • a container for the paint
  • paper
  • scissors
  • a sharpie or marker
  • textured objects (Lego is great)
  • googly eyes and glue (optional)
  • sparkles (optional)

Step 1

Draw a dinosaur or use an online template.  These outlines are freehanded from my imagination (which an adult may need to do).

You can find some free, downloadable dinosaur outlines at Sun Catcher Studio.

Step 2

Look around the house for an item with some texture that you can use as a stamp (and don’t mind getting paint on). Lego works great!

Or you could make your own stamp with a fruit like a potato or apple.

Dip the item in your paint of choice and use it to stamp, drag, or roll paint onto your dinosaur.  Don’t worry about going outside of the lines!

Step 3

Add the final details to your dinosaur with a marker or pen. You could also add googly eyes! We chose to add some sparkles too.

Step 4

Cut out your dinosaur friends (have an adult help if needed).  Now you’re ready for some dino adventures!

Colour a Baby Dinosaur!

This baby dinosaur is just getting out of his egg!  Can you give him some colour?
