Materials needed :
- Empty 2L plastic bottle
- Soil
- Newspaper
- Leaves
- Grass
- Spoiled produce
- Anything around the house that is compostable
- Scissors or knife
Instructions
Step 1
Make sure to rinse out and take off any labels that are on the 2L plastic bottle before starting the craft!
Take the 2L plastic bottle and use a pair of scissors and cut the top half of the bottle off.
Step 2
Start your compost bin by adding a layer of soil to the bottom.
Step 3
Once you have the bottom layer done, continue by adding a layer of compostable materials. A few examples of compostable materials are: leaves, grass clippings, non-animal food scraps
Step 4
Once the bottle is full add water to the bottle. You will want enough water so the materials are damp all the way through. Make sure not to add too much water. We don't want our materials floating in water!
Final product
Now that the bottle is done it is time to wait! Leave the bottle for several weeks in a spot where it will get lots of sun but won’t get tipped over.
