Suzanne Simard Author Tour: Thank You for Joining Us!

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for our One Book, One Community (OBOC) shared reading experience this year!

We are so happy to read Finding the Mother Tree: Discoering the Wisdom of the Forest by Dr. Suzanne Simard with so many of you, and to host Dr. Simard for unforgettable author talks at several of our libraries!

Check out some of the photos from these events below, and stay tuned for next year’s One Book, One Community program! Learn more here

Chase

Eli (8) and his sister Ava (5) were so excited to receive their signed copy of Finding the Mother Tree at our first event on our One Book, One Community Author tour hosted by the Chase Library at Chase Secondary School!

Kamloops

CBC Kamloops’ Jennifer Chrumka was a fantastic moderator for our Kamloops event at the Paramount Theatre. It was one for the books!

Barriere

In Barriere, attendees enjoyed listening to Simard read under the canopy of a large pine tree at the back of the library property.

Much of the focus of the discussion surrounded local Community Forests and Indigenous stewardship of the forests.  There were many questions about what ‘we’ can do to encourage improvement of forest practices.

“As a third-generation logging company owner (former) and a librarian, the impact of Simard’s book was immense,” said Barriere Library’s Branch Head, Pam Rudd.

A person that missed the event in Kamloops drove out to Barriere to attend, and some of our Barriere Library patrons that couldn’t attend were planning on driving to Clearwater later that day.

Clearwater

Everyone was enthralled with Dr. Simard’s presentation at the Clearwater Library, and wanted to stay past closing to keep asking her questions!
