Amy Mathers Teen Book Award

Looking for a great book for a teen? Look no further than the nominees of the Amy Mathers Teen Book Award!

Established in 2014, the Amy Mathers Teen Book Award honours excellence in teen and young adult fiction. Amy was inspired by Terry Fox’s and Rick Hansen’s Canadian journeys and decided to share her passion for reading Canadian teen stories, while working around her physical limitations, by completing a Marathon of Books. In 2014, Amy read one Canadian teen book every day in order to raise funds for her award.

To be eligible for this award the work must be original and aimed for readers aged 13-18, written by a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada. Translations are eligible, as long as the translator is a Canadian citizen, graphic novels are eligible as well, and short stories are also considered as long as they are all done by the same author.

The judges will be looking for exceptional text and any illustrations that include a well-structured plot, rich language, well-developed characters and an engaging narrative with good pacing.

Check out our catalogue and dive into some great Young Adult books! Which one will you pick up?
