Immerse yourself in the streets of the Amsterdam-inspired city of Ketterdam. Follow Kaz Brekker, aka Dirtyhands, who has been hired to break out Bo Yul-Baynur, a Shu scientist who has created the drug called jurda parem. This drug is highly addictive and lethal. It can enhance the power of any Grisha, a person with magical abilities and make them very powerful and dangerous.
Kaz must infiltrate the Ice Court in Fjerda and he can’t do this on his own. He recruits his gang of misfits to come along with him. Inej Ghafa is his right hand spy who is nimble and stealthy. Jesper Fahey an amazing sharpshooter with gambling addiction. Nina Zenik a Grisha Heartrender who has the ability to control the bodies of others. Matthias Helvar a former Fjerdan druskelle, a Grisha hunter. To round out the crew comes Wylan Van Eck who is the demolition expert as well as a rich merchant’s son.
The book is told from the point of view of each character and is a fast paced heist novel. There isn’t a shortage of adventure or emotion through-out the whole book. I was hooked the whole time reading this book, I wasn’t able to put it down and read it all night. The next morning I had to rush out and get the second book to find out what happens to this amazing crew. All the main characters had such unique and diverse backgrounds and personalities that I fell in love with them all.
The series that came before Six of crows is currently being made into a Netflix show. It will be fantastic to see this wonderful and rag tag crew come to life on the big screen!
