Norma Fleck Award for Canadian Children’s Non-Fiction

Know a child that really loves non-fiction? Have a look at the nominees for the Norma Fleck Award for Canadian Children’s Non-Fiction Book Award. We bet you’ll find their next favourite read here!

The Norma Fleck Award for Canadian Children’s Non-Fiction Book Award was created by the Fleck Family Foundation and the Canadian Children’s book Centre on May 17, 1999. This award was created to give outstanding non-fiction books for children the recognition they deserve!

This award is one of the largest of its kind in Canadian Children’s books and is also considered one of the most prestigious literary prizes.  What makes this award different from other children awards is that it is exclusively for non-fiction books!  Named after Dr. Jim Fleck’s mother, Norma Marie Byrnes, who always encouraged her children to read and was an avid reader herself.

The winning book will be based on an original subject or a familiar subject that is presented in a new and interesting way.

Find your next great non-fiction read in our catalogue! Learn something new and exciting with us!
