The Marilyn Baillie Picture Book Award was established in 2006 by retired Chairman and CEO of the TD Financial Group as a gift to his wife, Marilyn Baillie who is an award-winning children’s book author and Early Learning specialist. Besides being an award-winning author, Marilyn Baillie has also been an editor of the Chickadee magazine as well as authoring OWL’s Amazing Things Animals Do series.
Canadian authors and illustrators can submit their original work that is aimed at ages 3 to 8. Genres that are included are fiction, non-fiction and poetry. The judges look for a book that has equal consideration of text or storyline and visual material and that seamlessly integrates these elements. The result? Amazing picture books!
