Anniversary of the Battle of Hogwarts

To commemorate this special occasion we’ve put together this fun and spoiler-free video. Listen to a book talk of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K. Rowling, attend a Potions Class to learn how to make a Giggling Potion, and check out all of the fun additional activities and resources below to throw your own Harry Potter celebration at home!

At-Home Celebration Ideas

  • Astronomy Class: Use a free stargazing app like Sky Map for Android to map out the constellations in the night sky.
  • Care of Magical Creatures: Create a scavenger hunt for local wildlife, magical or not, and see if you can spot them all in a week.
  • Zoom Common Room/Great Hall Hangouts: Use Zoom or other video chatting software to hang out with your friends and pretend you’re in your House common room (throw on a costume for added fun!)
  • Write an acceptance letter to a friend and send it to them in the mail so they can officially be accepted to Hogwarts!
  • Visit The Three Broomsticks at home with this butterbeer recipe!: kidsactivitiesblog.com/12973/…
  • Create countless crafts such as golden snitches, homemade wands, felt house ties, knit your own house scarf, etc.
  • Quidditch Practice: Tie a hula hoop (or three!) to trees or a fence or something off the ground in your yard and practice throwing a ball through them like a Chaser!
  • Check out some Harry Potter Fanfiction online!
  • Have a Wizard Rock Dance Party – Bake cauldron cakes, pumpkin pasties, chocolate frogs and treacle tarts (lots of recipes online!)
  • Defence Against the Dark Arts/Charms/Transfiguration Class: Learn all the Harry Potter spells and challenge someone in your house to a duel!
  • Herbology Class: Plant something new in your garden, whether it’s a garden in your yard or window planters or even a baggy taped to a window where you can grow a bean!
