Having been told countless times how dangerous the human world is, Luca had never dared step foot on land. That is until he meets Alberto, who happens to be a sea monster just like him. And he convinces Luca to venture what’s above the water’s surface. They stumble into a small town called Portorosso, which hates sea monsters like them. Luca and Alberto then meet Giulia, and together they team up to participate in the Portorosso Cup tournament. They’re up against Ercole, who has won the Portorosso Cup many times, and he suspects something fishy about Luca and Alberto, something strange.
Luca has got to be one of the best Disney/Pixar movies to date. Everything about this movie was incredible; nothing felt forced or rushed in any way. This movie focused on Luca finding his way through life, but the message behind it was super meaningful! This movie taught me that it’s okay to be yourself, that all that matters is finding the right people and accepting yourself for who you are. I loved how real they portrayed Luca and Alberto’s friendship because it wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows; it was one of the best things I found about this movie. Luca will make anyone laugh, smile, and maybe even cry.
