Storytime & Craft: Ring Toss

This week we have a fun activity for your whole family to play or for your little ones to play on their own. This is good practice for hand-eye coordination for the budding sports enthusiast.

Materials:

  • 3-5 paper plates
  • 1 cardboard tube such as paper towel roll
  • Paint
  • Paint brushes
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Tape

Instructions:

Step 1:  Stand the paper towel roll on the paper plate and trace around the base of the paper towel roll with a pencil. Do this to 2 plates.

Step 2:  Cut out the circles. (Adults you might need to help with this step.)

Step 3:  Turn one of the plates upside down and paint the bottom with a bright color. You can leave the other plate unpainted.

Step 4:  Cut out bigger circles on all the other plates and paint them and your paper towel tube different colors. Then let everything dry for 1-2 hours.

Step 5:  Cut 1 inch long slits 1 inch apart around the base of the tube.

Step 7:  Flatten out the slit pieces and tape down or glue down onto the white plate. Put the other plate with a small circle (the painted one) over the tube and push down to the bottom so it’s touching the white plate. This creates your ring toss base.

Now you are ready to play your game!
