Storytime & Craft: Homemade Snow

This homemade snow will bring you all of the fun of playing and building in the snow, when the weather is sunny and beautiful outside!

Materials:

  • 4 cups of corn starch
  • 1 can shaving cream

Optional additions:

  • Peppermint extract
  • Iridescent Flakes

Instructions:

Step 1:  Pour the 4 cups of corn starch into a large container, bowl, or sheet pan.

Step 2:  Spray the shaving cream onto the cornstarch bit by bit and mix it in with your hands. Once you have reached a consistency you like, add peppermint extract or iridescent flakes, if you have them.

Step 3:  Last but not least, play! You can bring small toys in to interact with the snow, form the snow into shapes, or build a snowman!

Bonus Activity:  You and your child can practice writing words or drawing pictures and/or forming shapes in your homemade snow, too! Challenge your child to write their name, draw a picture or form an object in the snow and have the other person guess what it is!
