Early Literacy: Sing

Singing is a very powerful tool for helping children to learn language. We slow down and lengthen words when we sing, which makes it easier for children to hear the sounds that make up words.

There are lots of ways to incorporate singing into your daily life:

  • Sing to soothe or entertain your child
  • Use songs to transition between activities in your daily life
  • Sing songs when you are getting dressed, washing your hands, or having a bath. It can smooth the process as well as making it more fun!
