Celebrating Women’s History Month

HERstory

From October 1st to 17th, we want to hear from youth ages 18 or under about your favourite historical woman! You can download an entry form here, pick one up from the Kamloops Museum & Archives (207 Seymour Street), or find one at any of our libraries. Completed entries must be submitted by 4:30pm on October 17th to the KMA or your local library.

You can write or draw your answer, and if you need some inspiration, check out our HERstory booklist here: #herstory

There are prizes in three different age categories: 0-5, 6-12, and 13-18!

Hands-On History

If you want to try something a little different, from October 1st to 17th you can tackle our Hands-On History challenge. There are two different options to choose from and a prize for each category:

  1. Knit something that includes a message in Binary Code! You can use different stitches or different colours to create a pattern.

Once your project is complete, take a picture and send it to us on Instagram at @tnrlibrary or @kamloopsmuseum by 5pm on October 17th to enter into the contest. We’ll repost your picture so that others can decode your message!

Not on Instagram? Send it to us at questions@tnrd.ca by 5pm on October 17th.

Need some inspiration?

Check out our #handsonhistory booklist for titles about amazing women in the computer sciences and some tips and tricks for knitting. Or see if you can decode this fantastic sample made by one of our staff.

  1. Your other option is to recreate one of these recipes, which come from cookbooks in the Kamloops Museum & Archives collection!

Once your project is complete, take a picture and send it to us on Instagram at @tnrlibrary or @kamloopsmuseum by 5pm on October 17th to enter into the contest. We’ll repost your picture and show off your culinary creation to inspire others!

Not on Instagram? Send it to us at questions@tnrd.ca by 5pm on October 17th.

Make sure to follow us both on Instagram!
