Storytime & Craft: Paper Plate Kite

Watch the Storytime

Catch the program on Facebook after 10:30am on April 30th.

Make the Craft

Materials:

  • Paper plates
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick and/or tape
  • Coloured pencils , crayons or markers
  • Hole punch
  • Kite string
  • Stickers, jewels, coloured duct tape, coloured tape, fabric, streamers, pipe cleaners etc.

Step 1:  After gathering  your supplies, draw and cut a circle out of the middle of a paper plate (a grown-up may need to help with this step).

Step 2:  Use hole punch to cut out 2 holes at top of your kite.

Step 3:  Decorate your kite!

Step 4: Attach the string through the two holes at the top of your kite and tie.

Make sure to leave enough string to fly your kite outside.

Try to fly your kite on a windy day!

If you just can’t wait, try running to get the kite off the ground. Have a friend help you by throwing the kite into the air while you hold the string and run away from them.

Do More

Extend your activity by decorating both sides of the kite! Or have a contest and see who can get their kite to fly the highest!
