Ages 0-5

Whether your child is too young to read or just learning to read on their own, they can still take part in the TNRL  Summer Reading Club!

How does it work?

Choose your goal: You can read together with your child throughout the summer for 25 Books, 25 Days, or 25 Hours. You choose which goal works best for you!

The benefits: Reading to your child helps them build language and literacy skills. In fact, it’s one of the best ways to do this. So, whether you’re reading board books to your baby or chapter books to your five year old, you’re helping them learn and grow!

Earn prizes: For every five squares you complete on your reading record, your child earns an entry into our Grand Prize draw! You can earn up to five entries. Every branch will have a winner!

Ages 6-12

BC Summer Reading Club is a free reading program run provincially in British Columbia. This year children are invited to Crack the Case with us!

How does it work?

Read every day: For the 7 weeks of summer reading club, children read every day. They can read whatever they want, whenever they want, for however long  they want. All reading counts!

The benefits: Reading helps children develop important skills that make them more successful in school and in life. Our goal is to get children reading by making it fun.

All reading is valuable: Whether it’s an audiobook, a graphic novel, a comic book, or a magazine on dinosaurs, it all helps – and it all counts as reading!

Earn prizes: For every week a child reads, they earn a sticker. If they successfully read every day for all 7 weeks of summer reading club they earn a medal and a certificate! They also earn an entry into our Grand Prize draw!

We’re flexible: If your child misses a couple days, don’t worry! We run summer reading club from June 28th to August 21st, which actually gives children 8 weeks to accomplish their reading. They can catch up on missed days!

Childcare Centres (in Kamloops and Clearwater)

We are piloting a new group Summer Reading Club program with childcare centres in Kamloops and Clearwater.

How does it work?

Read as a group: All the reading that happens in your centre, whether in a circle time or silent reading time, can be counted towards your group’s goal.

Flexible goals: Shape the club to suit your children and your program. Read 25 books, 25 days, or 25 hours. You choose the goal that fits your centre best.

Track your success: Pick up a copy of our free program tracking poster at the Kamloops, North Kamloops, or Clearwater Libraries. Celebrate as a group as you meet your goals, whether you cross each square off or cover them in stickers.

Win prizes: Reach a reading goal and earn an entry into our grand prize draw. The six prize packs include a variety of books, literacy tools, and educational toys for your centre. Each participating centre can earn up to 5 entries for the draw!
