Screenwriting Workshop: Your Genius Movie Idea: What Makes a Great Movie Great

September 28 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Virtual Virtual Event
Free

This Fall our Screenwriter in Residence will be offering four workshops covering different topics on the art of Screenwriting. Participants will get the most out of these workshops by attending all four, but it is not required. Workshops will include 10 movie/TV clips per workshop, in-class writing/brainstorming assignments, Zoom breakout sessions, and handouts on the craft of screenwriting.

Workshop 1: Your Genius Movie Idea: What Makes a Great Movie Great

  • How to pick the right story to tell…and a topic is not a story
  • How to write the opening/closing scenes of your great movie script
  • World building & point of view
  • Stakes and conflict…is your story big enough? Do your characters suffer enough?

This event will take place via Zoom. A recorded version of the workshop will be posted to the library’s website after the event.
