Thompson-Nicola Regional Library Announces Summer Programming

Kamloops, BC – June 9, 2021 – the Thompson-Nicola Regional Library (TNRL) is excited to release its schedule of summer virtual programs. Registration is now open online at tnrl.ca, or contact your local library.

Children

Popular children’s programs like Tiny Tunes, Storytime & Craft, and Crafts to Go will be returning. Children ages 6-12 can also look forward to a series of Saturday programs tied in with the BC Summer Reading Club themes. On July 10th, BIG Little Science Centre will be taking participants through a crime scene investigation crash course in The Case of the Crumbling Cookie. In the Super Sleuth Academy on July 24th, attendees will learn a series of detective skills. A Mystery in History on August 7th requires participants to help put some famous historical figures back on their timeline. The summer children’s programs will wrap up on August 21st with a Party in a Box!

Teens & Tweens

Dungeons & Dragons continues throughout the summer for both teens & tweens. Everyone can join in on Nintendo Switch tournaments featuring Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Mario Kart 8. There are also going to be a variety of fun community service opportunities for teens over the summer, including a pen-pal exchange program and weekly book reviews. The library’s blog and social media accounts will feature weekly activity ideas for adults & teens.

Adults

For adults, the library will be offering two adult Crafts to Go programs this summer, both of which focus on upcycling. Registered patrons will learn how to create something beautiful out of recycled materials. Virtual Tech 1-on-1s will continue throughout the summer. Many book clubs from around the regional district will continue to meet remotely. The library’s final author event for the season will take place on July 8th featuring Vancouver-based screenwriter & author Roslyn Muir.
